Edit is a London based contemporary painter. In her recent work, she explores the representation of female identity through delicate natural forms such as plants, gardens, and landscapes that are found in her immediate environment. Her approach is intuitive, with a strong focus on tactile mark-making.
She’s particularly interested in the concept of roots—or the absence of them—as a metaphor for the female experience. These paintings function as portraits of women, at times fragile and isolated, like cut flowers with no roots or confined to decorative pots, yet still resilient and beautiful in full bloom.
She works primarily with oil paint on linen by following traditional techniques that are handmade at every step on the way and choosing only natural non-synthetic materials for a more organic connection to the subject matter.
Edit completed her Masters in Fine Arts at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in The Hague, NL and at the Academy of Fine Arts, HU.
